Groups...

All of a sudden, I found myself thinking sociologically when I was with my cousin and she was on her sister's phone on facebook. She was on facebook and I could hear her talking to herself because she was struggling that people were talking about her through this social networking site and she was pretty mad. Then, I talked to her and explained to her about what was going on that I had learned in sociology class and that everyone and everything is divided into different groups that represent many different things.
In class we learned that there are many different groups that everyone can be divided into and described as and identified by them. I think that this group is a social network where facebook fits in and I think that there was a conflict and that there was some social exchange basically because my cousin was the one with the conflict with a certain problem that she had to get over with the people that were talking about her. Also I think that there was some social exchange here because they were causing a conflict to make her mad and get in exchange to see her react to it.

Kindness of strangers...

In class we were talking about how the kindness of strangers is impacted by different variables. Also, there are different characteristics that change different aspects of how people react to a theft taking place in front of them. Therefore, in class we came up with the characteristics of what can change to make the theft different. For example, what gets stolen, where you steal, that physical apearance of the theif, who's watching, the victim (the relationship  with anyone there, is the victim alone or in a group, the gender, the appearance, the behavior of the victim, the attitude of the victim towards others, age, and the race) and the time of theft.
We had to do our own reasearch in class to see how other high schoolers react to a theft. In class some students that planned the theft taking place cincluded that other students do not do anything to interfere with a theft taking place in front of them. Therefore that teaches us not to trust others with our valuable stuff while we are gone because they most likely will not do anything to interfere with what is taking place right in front of them.

Sociologists and their beliefs...

All of a sudden, I found myself thinking sociologically when I was in sociology class. Our teacher introduced the sociologists and I remembered when we learned in our history class about some of these characters. As our teacher is going through teaching us the lesson I seem to be thinkingback trying to remember back to when I learned this. Now, all of a sudden something hits me and I realized that I had already learned this and  I could connect to this class a lot.
Jane adams connects to society now and it connects to how there are organizations now help protect women and children's rights. We also learned about W.E.B. DuBois and he was focused on the question of race inside and out of the U.S. and he also analyzed sophisticated social structure of African American communities.

Who am I?

Hi, I am Magnolia and my favorite color is blue. I love to listen to music all the time. My favorite season of the year is summer because the sun brings the highlight to a day so you can feel more energetic. My future plans after high school are having a degree in culinary and after that go into teaching. At the same time my plans include to get a job to save money and get myself to move out of my house and be on my own without having to depend on my parents as much as I do now.  I am an understanding person and once someone gets to know me I can be someone who is easily able to be around. The people that have influenced my life the most are my mom and my older brother. When my brother was around before he passed away he left a lot of memories behind that made everyone admire and remember him so much. He was really loving and caring towards everyone and I can say this because he volunteered a lot in the community to help others. He had many things that he did that I ended up looking up to him for and because of these good acts it has made me the person that I am now. Now, my mom has been a good influence on me also because she has been the female role model in my life that helps me and guides me when I need it. My goals and purposes in life are to be more organized and have set goals to accomplish on what I actually plan to do. I think that as long as I keep everything together I do not think that anything will easily interfere with whatever I have to do and I will be able to accomplish what I want and set my mind to do.
